Ready to elevate your house to the best-looking in the neighbourhood? Because the ideal schedule for home exterior washing in Surrey, Langley, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge and White Rock is right now in the spring, and again in the fall.

There are a few important reasons for this. By cleaning during these two seasons, you gain the advantage of better weather for deeper cleaning, and you prevent the damaging accumulation of dirt, grime, droppings and leaves. Additionally, you keep on top of the growth patterns of organic materials like moss. All of which affect the look and health of your house.

Weather

More moderate temperatures during these seasons allow environmentally friendly, soft-wash cleaning solutions to work more efficiently and effectively because they have more time to work. A spring and fall schedule avoids temperature extremes in winter and summer that accelerate freezing or evaporation of solutions, making the process less effective.

Dirt

Exterior washing twice a year allows for 6 months of dirt accumulation (and grime, leaves, mildew, mould, droppings, etc.) before wiping it all away and leaving your house beautifully clean. The result is the curb appeal of your home is maintained at a consistently high level. It never gets a chance to look dingy.

It’s also a great timeline to give the outside of your house a health check. Look for things like loose siding, cracks, chips, crumbling mortar, missing nails (they have a tendency to work themselves loose). Also check for insect infestations and bird nests. A twice-yearly look-over during exterior cleaning ensures any damage gets noticed and doesn’t have a chance to worsen for too long a period.

Moss

Moss never stops growing. In the winter, it just slows down. So unfortunately, moss is always ready to be an issue. Anything you can do to prevent it from growing along window panes or in cracks and crevices  and damaging your exterior is good. It will save you money in the long run.

Moss needs two things to grow–sunlight and lots of  moisture. Thanks to our wet, west coast weather, Surrey, Langley, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge and White Rock are a veritable playground for moss. Exterior washing in the spring, after a long, wet, winter removes moss that has continued growing for the past 6 months. Washing again in the fall gets rid of new spores trying to gain a foothold.
